10 Days Char Dham Yatra Itinerary from Dehradun

Char Dham Yatra Itinerary

Day 1: Dehradun to Barkot (180 km / 6-7 hrs)

Start your journey fresh! Drive through scenic hill roads to Barkot, the base for Yamunotri. Take it slow, let the altitude sink in, and rest up for the trek tomorrow.

Stay: Barkot

Tip: Stock up on water, snacks, and warm clothes—you are officially in yatra mode now.

Day 2: Barkot – Yamunotri – Barkot (36 km drive + 6 km trek one way)

Early morning drive to Janki Chatti, then a 6 km trek to Yamunotri Temple (source of River Yamuna). You can walk, hire a pony, or even take a palki if you’re feeling royal/exhausted.

Darshan, pooja, soak your feet in the warm Surya Kund, and trek back down.

Stay: Barkot

Day 3: Barkot to Uttarkashi (100 km / 4 hrs)

Head to Uttarkashi, home of the famous Kashi Vishwanath Temple. It’s a relaxed day—perfect to recharge.

Stay: Uttarkashi

Pro Tip: Visit local markets for woollens and local food. You are going to ride higher next.

Day 4: Uttarkashi – Gangotri – Uttarkashi (100 km each way)

Start early! Drive through amazing mountain views and head to Gangotri Temple, the origin of River Ganga. It’s peaceful, powerful, and yes, cold.

After darshan, return to Uttarkashi by evening.

Stay: Uttarkashi

Day 5: Uttarkashi to Guptkashi (210 km / 8-9 hrs)

A long travel day. Sit back, soak in the views, and let your playlist carry you. Guptkashi is the base for Kedarnath. You are entering tougher terrain now.

Stay: Guptkashi

Note: Early dinner and sleep—tomorrow will be going to a big day.

Day 6: Guptkashi – Gaurikund – Kedarnath (30 km drive + 16 km trek)

Drive to Gaurikund, then begin the 16 km trek to Kedarnath. This is the hardest part of the yatra, but also the most powerful. Kedarnath Temple sits in a valley surrounded by giant snow-clad peaks. It is amazing. Take your time, go slow, and stay hydrated.

Stay: Kedarnath (basic accommodation)

Day 7: Kedarnath – Gaurikund – Guptkashi

Early morning darshan if you didn’t manage the night before. Then start your trek back down to Gaurikund and return to Guptkashi.

Stay: Guptkashi

Day 8: Guptkashi to Badrinath (200 km / 8-9 hrs)

Time to reach- the fourth Dham dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Drive to Badrinath, the last dham of the yatra. Roads are twisty but the views? 10/10. En route, stop at Joshimath or Vishnuprayag.

Evening visit to Badrinath Temple for darshan.

Stay: Badrinath

Bonus: Visit Tapt Kund (hot spring) before the temple.

Day 9: Badrinath to Rudraprayag (160 km / 5-6 hrs)

After morning darshan and some local sightseeing (like Mana Village—the last village of India!), head to Rudraprayag, where Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers meet. It’s a relaxing leg after all the trekking.

Stay: Rudraprayag

Day 10: Rudraprayag to Dehradun (165 km / 6-7 hrs)

Final stretch! Drive back to Dehradun with a full heart, tired limbs, and a phone full of Himalaya pictures you will force on everyone back home.

FAQ on Char Dham Tour from Dehradun

Do the Chardham Yatra packages also include registration?

Yes, sometimes the package includes the group registration process, provided with all documents by pilgrims. Agencies also help in registering with chat on WhatsApp or a call.

Shared bus journey is comfortable as Volvo buses come equipped with reclining and pushback seats with sleeper berth options as well. Fare in this bus starts from Rs 9,000 per person for 10 days from Dehradun.

Is private transportation like a tempo traveller very costly?

If comfort is your main requirement, then we suggest a car for a small family trip or multi-seater tempo travellers, which have pushback seats and a compact body.
