How to Reach Adi Kailash in Uttarakhand
By Air: The Nearest Airport to reach Adi Kailash is Naini Saini Airport in Pithoragarh district. Another one is Pantnagar Airport at 250 km from Adi Kailash. By Road: Dharchula is the base of Adi Kailash Yatra and is connected by road from various parts of Uttarakhand. You can begin your journey from your city with a drive to Kathgodam or Pithoragarh to Dharchula. Day 2: Kathgodam-Pithorgarh (200 Km, 4-5 Hours)Start the drive to reach Pithoragarh with a quick stop at Neem Karoli Baba Ashram at Kainchi Dham, Jageshwar Dham. After arrival, check in and stay overnight.
Day 3: Pithoragarh - Dharchula (93 Kms / 3 hrs)After breakfast, drive to Dharchula. Post arrival, some paperwork will be required to get the Inner Line permit. After Lunch, enjoy leisure time and get acclimatised to the high altitude. Explore Dharchula and Nepal. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 4: Dharchula – Gunji (71 KMs / 2.5 hrs)Gunji is the base village to proceed for the Adi Kailash and Om Parvat Yatra. Stop for lunch enroute. Today, you will explore quaint and beautiful villages like Chialekh, Garbyang, Gunji and Napalchu. Stay overnight at a Homestay in Gunji Village.
Day 5: Gunji - Adi Kailash - GunjiAfter an early breakfast in Gunji, set out on an unforgettable journey to Adi Kailash, also called Chhota Kailash. You will travel by local vehicles or on foot (depending on the road and weather conditions). First stop will be Jolingkong to move further to reach the peak. Along the way, soak in panoramic views of snow-capped peaks and pristine valleys. Enroute, visit at some stops such as Pandava Parvat, Pandava Fort, and Parvati Mukut.
Offer your prayers and spend some time at the base of Adi Kailash. By evening, return to Gunji to rest and prepare for the next day’s adventure.
Day 6: Gunji – Kalapani- OM Parvat - Gunji / Nabhi (22 Kms)Wake up in the cleanest environment at the height of the Himalayas. Post breakfast, drive to Om Parvat via Kala Pani, Kali Mandir, Shesh Nag Parvat and Ved Vyas Gufa.
Day 7: Gunji / Nabhi - Dharchula - Didihat / Chaukori (158 KMs / 6 hrs)Post breakfast, drive to Dharchula with a stop for lunch in between. Later, drive to Didihat or Chaukori. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 8: Didihat/Chaukori- Almora (189 KMs / 6:30 hrs)The distance between Chaukori and Almora is 109 Km and will take 3-4 hours to reach. Explore Almora for its quieter and pure Himalayan vibes instead of the tourist crowd. Stay overnight and relax.
Day 9: Almora-Kathgodam-DelhiMark your departure from Almora to Delhi via Kathgodam. It will take approximately 8 hours to reach Delhi, covering a 400 km distance.
