Diu Airport was built in 1954 and became operational on 16 August 1955. The airport was linked to Goa, Daman, and Karachi until the Indian air force bombed the airfield in 1961. Later, it became the part of the Union territory of Daman & Diu. The airport is situated 7 km west of Diu city and is a well-maintained civil aerodrome. Along with Diu, it also serves the nearby areas of Gujarat.
