Jorhat Airport, also called Rowriah Airport, is the 2nd busiest airport of Assam in terms of passenger traffic. Started in the early 1950s, the Jorhat Airport is Air India Force’s first air base in the East. It is a civil enclave run by the Airports Authority of India and is located 7 km away from the south-west part of Jorhat City in Assam. This airport is one of the major gateways for flights to Nagaland and upper Assam.
Jorhat offers plenty of places worth visiting. These include Raja Maidam, Nimati Ghat, Cinnamora Tea Estate, and Ladai Garh. Majuli, an island located in the Brahmaputra River, and Dhekiakhowa Bor Namghar, which is a famous Assamese Temple, are some other places to see. Also, do not forget to visit the Hoollongapar Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary. Visit the Sukapha Samannay Kshetra, that was built in honor of Sukapha, the first Ahom ruler of Assam.
