Established in the late 1950s, Kandla Airport is located in the north of Kandla in Kutch district of Gujarat. Also called as Gandhidham Airport, it occupies 268.2 acres of land. Passenger services were started at the airport by Indian Airlines with their Avro aircraft. Later, the services were extended by Vayudoot airlines. The terminal building of the airport has the capacity of handling 100 passengers at a time. Navigational and landing aids that are helpful to the pilots are available at the airport. The Kandla Airport has an apron spreading over an area of 5400 square meters and two parking bays for ATR aircraft.
You can visit the Kandla Port, which is a seaport in Kandla, near Gandhidham city. It is the largest port of India in terms of the capacity of handling cargo. Gandhidham, a city located near Kandla, is home to religious centers like Shree Chandra Prabh Labdhi Dham Teerth. You can also see the Purneshwar Temple, which is an ancient temple near Gandhidham, displaying sculptures and architecture from the 9th and 10th centuries.
The Kamaleswari Mandir is one of the most revered temples located near Kamalpur. The temple is a revered one and is dedicated to Goddess Kali. Kali puja is celebrated with much fanfare in the temple.
