Mysore Airport, also known as the Mandakalli airport, serves the city of Mysore, Karnataka. The airport is located at a distance of 12 km from the city center. Owned and operated by the Airport Authority of India (AAI), Mysore Airport is a civilian airport. Presently, it has one runway and one terminal.
Currently, the airport caters to chartered and VIP flights. Regular flights to Chennai are expected to start in 2017, with two daily flights operated by local airlines – Hyderabad-based TruJet and Bhuvaneshwar-based Air Odisha.
Mysore was the capital of the Mysore kings of the Wodeyar dynasty and the major attraction in the city is the magnificent Mysore Palace. Other attractions include Lalitha Mahal, Jayalakshmi Vilas Mansion, the Chamundi Hills with the Chamundeshwari Temple, Karanji Lake, Mysore Zoo, and St. Philomena’s Church. You can also visit Brindavan Gardens, Shivanasamudra Falls, Srirangapatnam – the city of Tipu Sultan, and Ranganathaswamy Temple. For a unique shopping experience, shop at the centuries old Devaraja Market, filled with silks, spices, and the famed sandalwood artefacts.
