Port Blair Airport, also popularly known as Veer Savarkar International Airport, is 2 km away from the South of Port Blair. It is the main airport of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The airport derived its name from Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, who was an activist, a politician, and a lawyer. The Port Blair Airport is a civil enclave and it shares its facilities with the Indian Navy.
The airport has an asphalt surface with one runway of length 3290 meters and it accommodates narrow-body aircraft. Airports Authority of India handles the civilian terminal activities, while the other traffic is handled by the Indian Navy.
Port Blair offers many scenic destinations, such as Wandoor Beach, Ross Island, and Jolly Buoy Island. Places like Samudrika Marine Museum, Anthropological Museum, and Chidiya Tapu are some of the best destinations to visit.
