Ranchi Airport is also known as Birsa Munda Airport, named after the tribal leader and freedom fighter, Birsa Munda. Located in the Hinoo area, around 7 km from the city center, the airport is at an elevation of 646 m above sea level and is spread across 564 acres. It is known to be the 35th busiest airport in India. The airport was established in 1995, and since its inception it gave a huge boost to the tourism of Jharkhand. The passenger growth has been tremendous in this airport in recent years and has recently crossed the 1 million mark.
