Tezpur Airport (TEZ), covering an area of 22 acres, was originally constructed as an airfield during World War II in 1942 by the British Royal Indian Air Force. Later it was owned by Airport Authority of India. It is also known as Salonibari Airport as it’s located in the township of Salonibari, around 8 km from the city center of Tezpur, in the state of Assam. The apron of the airport can accommodate one aircraft at a time. The annual passenger traffic for Tezpur Airport came up to 7,889 in the financial year 2016-2017 as compared to 5,063 in 2015-2016, and had a growth of 55.8 %.
Tezpur offers a range of places to visit. Some of the well-known places include Mahabhairab Temple, Agnigarh Hill, Kalia Bhomora Setu, Dhekiajuli, Bhairabi Temple, Chitralekha Aydan, Bamuni Hills, Kalia Bhomora Setu, Da Parbatia Temple Ruins, and Kanaklata Memorial Park.
