Visakhapatnam Airport is located approximately 12 km from the Visakhapatnam city center and is the busiest airport in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Covering an area of 350 acres, this airport is also a civil enclave for Indian Navy Airfield known as INS Dega. The airport first started with only one daily flight in 1999. Currently, among the Indian airports, Visakhapatnam Airport is ranked 13 by the AAI. It has seen a footfall of around 21.01 lakh passengers in the year 2016 as compared to 14.7 lakh passengers in 2015, marking a growth of around 42%.
Some of the famous tourist places in Vishakhapatnam are the Borra Caves, INS Kurusura Submarine Museum, VUDA Park, Kailasagiri Park, Matsyadarshini Aquarium, Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Temple, Yarada Beach, Rishikonda Beach, Rama Krishna Beach, and the Simhachalam Temple.
