Take a overnight train journey to reach Kathgodam. From Kathgodam you have two options to reach Lohajung. If you are in a bigger group, then hiring a cab to Lohajung is recommended as it will save you lot of time. If you are on low budget then you can travel by public transport for that you have to break your journey into two parts i.e. Kathgodam to Gwaldam by bus/shared cab and then Gwaldam to Lohajung. Budget accommodations are available at Lohajung.
Post breakfast, start your trek from Lohajung for Raun Bagad. This leisure route is full of pleasing view of nature. On the way, you will find a tranquil river called Neel Ganga, having a petite bridge erected on it. After crossing the bridge the further climb is steep and it takes almost 3 hours to reach Didina village. The trail passes through a vibrant forest which is perfect for nature quest. At Didina village, you can spend the night in a homestay or stay in tents at Didina campsite.
To perceive the real beauty of Ali Bugyal, start your journey early at dawn. After crossing the way to the sprawling green blanket, the trail will lead you to a dense forest. The fragrance of oak trees will surely mesmerize you. On climbing further the topography changes with the appearance of the coniferous trees like deodar, pine, and spruce. Soon you’ll be in Tolkaan from where you can behold the first sight of the mini meadows.
On reaching the ridge, you can have a 360-degree view of the lush green meadows of Ali Bugyal. The top of Ali Bugyal is at a distance of one hour from here. The further trek is restful to the place where fiber huts of forest department are located.
This is the day when your three days wait will be over. Trek from Ali Bugyal to Bedni Bugyal (3300mtrs) and cross the vast expanse of the green alpine meadows. The prepossessing view of the Himalayan pasture land and the snow-capped Himalayan peaks will make you feel alive. The charming meadow of Bedni is adorned with thousands of colorful flowers in full bloom.
Bedni Kund, a pristine lake in midst of this meadow is the sight to feast your eyes on! It is in the vicinity of a small temple, where the devotees pay their obeisance during their halt at BedniBugyal. After exploring the area trek back to Bedni Bugyal for dinner and have an overnight stay.
Post breakfast, pack your bags and take about turn to Wan village. The trek is downhill and it takes 3-4 hours to complete it. At Wan, drive further 12 km to Lohajung by local cabs. Have dinner and overnight stay at Lohajung.
Post breakfast, drive to Rishikesh or Kathgodam. Have a nutritious lunch on the way. You’ll probably reach Rishikesh/Kathgodam by evening. Upon arrival check into a hotel for dinner and have an overnight stay.
